This shingle-style building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has unique double verandas and breezeways. Each room is filled with English antiques and traditional furniture. Most rooms have wet bars with microwaves and refrigerators. King- or queen-size beds are in all rooms. The inn has direct ocean access and is centrally located near a lighthouse, the Wright Brothers Museum, Fort Raleigh (the Lost Colony), the Elizabeth II representative sixteenth-century ship, and Jockey’s Ridge, the tallest dune on the East Coast. All baths have heated towel bars. Guests may relax in the comfortably elegant library and in the sunny breakfast room. Amenities include a pool, croquet, expansive grounds, a copier, fax machine, and data ports. The inn has been rated Four Diamonds by AAA for the past six years. Small private parties are welcomed. Travel agency receives commission from inn.
