Virtually untouched for centuries, Little St. Simons Island is a privately owned 10,000-acre barrier island along the Georgia coast. This rich, varied natural world, its abundant wildlife, seven miles of pristine beaches, ancient maritime forests, tidal creeks, and shimmering marshes, await discovery. The owners of the island have welcomed family and friends since the early 1900s. Accessible only by boat, which leaves twice daily, the island retains the charm and unhurried pace of coastal living. Moss-draped live oaks surround five cottages for up to thirty overnight guests. Built in 1917, the Hunting Lodge is the very heart of island life. Its two guest rooms are filled with rustic furniture and family memorabilia. Four other cottages are also on the grounds, each with distinctive and comfortable accommodations. Activities include canoeing, boating, fishing, hiking, swimming, and horseback riding. Meals are served in the Hunting Lodge dining room or at one of the picnic sites on the island. Savor gourmet, regional cuisine that is healthy, delicious, and flavorful. More than 220 species of birds have been recorded on the island. The diversity of habitat provides an exciting opportunity for bird watching and viewing European fallow deer, alligators, dolphins, loggerhead sea turtles, and many other creatures. The lodge is the perfect all-inclusive destination for individual adventurers, family vacations, romantic getaways, reunions, weddings, retreats, and business meetings. Small private parties are welcomed.
