This Mediterranean villa, embraced by Mount San
Jacinto, was built in 1927 and became the winter estate of Samuel Untermyer, a famous New York attorney. The building’s striking architecture is enhanced by the mahogany beams of the great hall, the frescoed ceilings of the veranda, and the mountain waterfall that spills into a pool just outside the stone-floored dining room. Rooms feature antique furniture, sumptuous linens, handmade tiles, private garden patios, and mountain and garden vistas. The inn is available for family gatherings, weddings, retreats, and corporate meetings. It is also only a short distance to fine restaurants, the Desert Museum, downtown historical sites, movie theaters, boutiques, and antique shops. Marion Davies, life-long mistress of William Randolf Hearst, made her home here. Clark Gable and Carole Lombard honeymooned here. Jimmy Walker, former Mayor of New York City, hid out here, and Albert Einstein really slept here. Travel agency commissions honored.
